Surgical face masks are primarily intended to protect the healthcare staffs’ respiratory tract. Some masks are also intended to protect the staff against potentially contaminated fluid splashes and of course the mask should allow easy breathing. Quality parameters and test methods as per European Standard EN 14683: Surgical Masks and Test Requirements. Only applicable to 3-Ply surgical masks:
1. Bacteria Filtration Efficiency (ASTM F2101-01) of greater than 99%
2. Breathing Resistance (Delta P) - <5.0 mmH2O/cm²
3. Splash Resistance (ASTM 1862) of 120mmHG
